"...an acoustic interpretation of her early 2021 album Mourning Moon, recorded entirely in her bathtub in one take. The songs are punctuated by lauren reading her poetry. lauren’s music has been described as “gritty and elegant” by New Noise Magazine, and MusicMecca calls napier “a force to be reckoned with.” "
Kepi Ghoulie, Lauren Napier, and Vic Ruggiero road tripped down the west coast and recorded a few songs for this cassette only release on This & That Tapes.
This collection was recorded in Graz during the November full moon - also referred to as the mourning moon. SAMO, my faithful feline companion, kept me and Tom Zwanzger (AntiFlag, Astpai) company as we reimagined the songs at STRESS Studios. I had written the songs in my room, just me and the cat, so sitting in the studio with an array of instruments and another human’s input put me in a different realm. Over a few days, the melodies manifested into the melancholy spaghetti western soundtrack I had always wanted.
